Husky Camp is a member of the Siberian Husky Rescue Referral of California (SHRRCA)
 a California 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization

Before adopting a dog, please consider that they will require a place to be for the next fifteen years. If you adopt a dog that place should be with you. Ask yourself these questions- "Am I willing to take a job that allows me to have time for my dog?" "Am I willing to socialize my dog to babies before I have one?" "Should I need to move- Am I willing to begin looking for a place that will accept my furry family member well in advance of my moving day?" "Am I willing to teach my dog the things he needs to know to make him able to stay in my home?"

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ONE OR MORE OF OUR WONDERFUL ADOPTABLE PETS, PLEASE BE
SURE TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION SO WE CAN BE SURE TO BRING THOSE DOGS YOU ARE INTERESTED
IN TO OUR NEXT ADOPTION EVENT. NOT ALL DOGS ARE BROUGHT TO EACH ADOPTION EVENT.

Meet Mr. Brows, or as we refer to him as the 'Browzer ' This boy has won the hearts of everyone here at Husky Camp, and at the many Veterinarians and vet techs who have been involved in his care and treatment. You may remember him from social media, he was the boy who came to us via the Ramona shelter with what was supposed to be a case of Pneumonia. That was back in October or 2013.

As it would turn out, Mr. Brows' pneumonia had likely been caused by another condition known as laryngeal paralysis. In his case it was a congenital condition whereas the
nerves and muscle that control the arytenoids' cartilage do not work. These would ordinarily help to control the direction and flow of air during exercise and also protect the lungs and airways during swallowing of food and water. In his situation, it was an unusual case of dual paralysis- meaning both sides.

Brows underwent the a surgical procedure at VSS in Tustin called a Laryngeal tieback. The procedure tied back his left side but unfortunately his situation didn't improve, it actually worsened. Browzer went back to see the wonderful Dr. Diane Craig, who performed a miracle- She gave Browzer  the gift of life- performing a one of kind custom procedure to give him an open airway and the ability to breathe easily. Originally the procedure was not something either of us wanted to attempt, but his condition had left us no choice-  and it was a gamble that paid off, as now Browzer is happy, healthy and doing just fine! The difference is in quality of life literally brought tears to us all.

A dog with his condition is not without some side effects and does require an  owner who understands his situation and continues to keep him safe and healthy. He is an amazingly affectionate dog, and loves to muzzle his head into you for attention. He is goofy, fun, and still loves to do all of the fun Husky things like landscape remodeling and helping around the house with chores (you know, empty the trash in the living room).

He gets along very well with most all other dogs and acts just like any other young Husky would, and enjoys play time and TV time on the couch.

However, Brows has some important limitations. He will not be a sled dog, but is very capable of regular play with other dogs, walks and even periods of running. The surgical procedures also make him susceptible to drowning, so water skiing and high diving are not activities in his future. He will not be adopted to a home that has a pool or other body of water that could pose a danger to him. You really have to meet him to appreciate the big goof, and for all the poor guy has endured in his time he is as happy as they come.

Serious and qualified applications are being accepted for Browzer and we would love for him to be considered as your next Husky!

Koa is a 5 year old sable and white Siberian with beautiful blue eyes.  This boy is striking in markings and loves to be with people.  He is going to need a large female dog as a partner to keep him company.  There Are Fencing Requirements for this boy, so pictures of your yard will be necessary to be considered for Koa's new family. He is housetrained, leash trained, and obedience trained.  He will do great carrying his own pack on your mountain hikes, and maybe even the picnic basket on park visits.

Jubilee is a 5 month old all white female with bi-eyes.  Serious applicants with another Siberian in the home are welcome to apply for her.  She is good with other dogs, and kids, but she loves to chew everything in sight. So fair warning, if you love something, put it away or Jubilee will love it more.  :)  She's an active girl that needs an active family

Skye is a one year old Sable and white Husky/Kelpie mix.  He is a shy boy but has been working on getting used to people.  Skye is good with other dogs and good with cats.  He loves to be cuddled and softly pet.  Skye weighs in at about 40 pounds but is about the size of an Alaskan Klee Kai.  With kindness and consistency Skye would be a good match for a loving home

Journey is a 1 year old gray and white boy with blue eyes.  This boy is comical.  He loves to roll over and give you his tummy for a scratch even at inopportune moments. Journey would be fine with larger dogs, but thinks that cats and little dogs would be play toys.  Journey is very soft, and loves to lay on the couch and watch tv with you anytime.  He could also do some hiking in the cool mountains when you ready to go.

Rubi is an 8 year old red and white female.  She's a happy girl with a mind of her own.  She needs an owner that will give her the time and training that she needs, or she will just take over for you.  She's still very active and would do great on road trips to the mountains or down to the beach.  She's very good with kids of all ages and always has a great smile on her face.

Romi is an 8 year old red and white male.  He does have an issue with his left eye  that is being removed by the vet this next week.  He's otherwise a healthy happy boy that could use an active home.  Don't let his age fool you, he'll still powerwalk you up any hill you can find.  He needs a consistent owner that will expect him to act his age just a little.  He is good with kids and other big dogs and his housebroken.  He could possibly even enjoy some scootering as long as the weather is cool.

Romi was photo'd with his friend Rubi- They can be adopted as a pair or seperately.

Meet Koty and Misty.  Two very happy active dogs that would really like to score a home together.  Koty is a four year old black and white boy and Misty is a four year old all white girl.  They have been together since 2011 when they were first adopted out to wonderful couple who have come onto hard times medically speaking and cannot continue taking care of them.

These two are strong walkers, they have also been in harness pulling a  cart, and are very capable Siberians.  Once Koty gets his energy out he walks nice on a leash, and Misty is always beside him.  They love to go on road trips, camping trips, beach visits, singing by the campfire, just about anything you could imagine.

Our goal is to place them together, but we do understand that not everyone is up for taking in two Siberians at the same time.  If that should happen they would each need another large doggie companion in their new home.

Berkeley is a 2 year old gray and white male with brown eyes.  Berkeley is a very sweet boy, that loves to jump up and give hugs.  Probably a little too rambunctious for small kids.  He'll hike with you, run with you, jog with you, hit the road on road trips with you.  He's up for it, and hopes someone is ready to make his life better with his own family.   He is housebroken and yes, good with other dogs.

This is Cotton- Cotton was picked up as a young Husky from the Shelter by someone who "just wanted a Husky puppy". All too often, this is done without understanding the needs of the breed. This was the case with Cotton, who is full of energy and all the usual destructive puppy habits.

Cotton will need guidance and help to become the great well behaved Husky that is deep down inside there somewhere. This will require an experienced, saavy owner with an adult Siberian in the house to help with the process.

Puppy is semi crate trained, semi house trained, friendly with cats and dogs. Just shy of four months old, 12 lbs. today (gaining by the day), Fixed Male, first puppy shots only, vet checked, microchipped. Needs to be placed with a home that has a husky for companionship and guidance.

Zona

A great first husky for those who have never owned one before. Zona is a sweet female that is both attentive and playful. Loves her crate but will socialize with other dogs. Another lovely girl that simply ran out of time at the shelter before she could win the heart of a family somewhere. Spend a few minutes with her and she will win your heart, too.  Almost apartment sized, but still needs exercise.

2yrs old. 38 lbs. spayed female. Black/White/Gray with nearly a full mask and soft brown eyes. Crate trained, socialized, all shots, vet checked, microchipped. NO Cats.

Mack

Strong as the truck brand he is named after, Mack is a manís dog that women would love to own and families would cherish as one of their own. Found as a stray, this handsome fellow had four holds on him at the shelter and no one showed up. After a month, his time was up and he was rescued hours before his literal deadline. This great husky never lost hope. Good looks, soft gentle eyes, relentlessly cheerful,he is a rough and tumble player who gets along with all the huskies. Gives big hugs and kisses.

Male 62 lbs. 1.5 yrs. Old. Microchipped. Fixed. All shots. Crate trained. Socialized. Vet checked. No cats or critters.

Marshall -

A survivor of severe abuse, he and his companion husky were systematically starved and abused. The companion did not survive. To make matters worse, the owner sued the shelter to get Marshall back. The trial dragged out for a year, with Marshall enduring cold kennels an isolation. He is now here awaiting a home and people who will love him. He has some fatty tumors on his legs (not a health risk according to the vets) and some fly damage on the ears. He is in superb health now.

67 lbs of muscle with super intense ice blue eyes and a very gentle disposition. 8 - 10 years old. Excellent teeth and eyes. Black and white Neutered male. all shots, vet checked,
microchipped, socialized.

Good with children and other dogs. No cats.
