HUSKY    CAMP

Before adopting a dog, please consider that they will require a place to be for the next fifteen years. If you adopt a dog that place should be with you.

Ask yourself these questions- "Am I willing to take a job that allows me to have time for my dog?" "Am I willing to socialize my dog to babies before I have one?" "Should I need to move- Am I willing to begin looking for a place that will accept my furry family member well in advance of my moving day?" "Am I willing to teach my dog the things he needs to know to make him able to stay in my home?"

Comments:   This is Saint, a two year old red and white wooly male with amber eyes.  Saint and Susie Q were at the same shelter together.  Saint was adopted out and we got Susie Q. Saint was returned to the shelter for an unknown reason and we brought him  in to our rescue.  Now reunited,  Susie Q is very happy and so is Saint.  So, we now have yet another "pair" that will need to be placed together.  He is housebroken good with children and other dogs and would really like to stay with his room mate.

Roxy

Sex: Spay

Age: 10 years

Housetrained: Yes

Kids: Loves them

Small Animal & Cats: Yes

Roxy's message:

My name is Roxy. You say I'm 10 years old, I say I'm 10 years young. I still have energy and still enjoy gently playing with my foster dad or my other Husky friends in their yard. Don't worry about my weight, I've already lost 25lbs and I can still climb up to remove food from your countertops, so be sure to leave me that midnight snack. My weight is due to small thyroid problem that is common in my breed, and is easily controlled with medication. I feel great, I'm happy and doing just fine.

I was originally adopted from Husky Camp in 2002 but for no fault of my own, had to be returned 8 years later. I would love to have a new home where I can relax and hang out, I'm older so I don't need all the activity I used to- but I still enjoy my walks and exercise, and it helps with my girlish figure! I do just fine around other dogs and cats. I do great in or outdoors and I have a big heart with lots of life and love to offer my next home.

Yankee

Color:
 White with Blue Eyes

Sex: Neuter

Age: 18 Months

Housetrained: possibly

Kids: yes

Small Animals: no

Other dogs: yes

Comments:

Yankee is all white with blue eyes, 18 months old and a quite the gentleman.  When you are used to opening a door or gate and having your Siberian try to beat you through the opening, it's a surprising change to have a dog look up at you and make sure you really meant for him to come out.  He gets along with other dogs and appears to be housebroken.  He walks nice on a leash and would love to have a family that wants him to be by their sides  no matter what adventure comes along.

Sex: neuter

Age: 3 Years

Housetrained: yes

Kids: yes

Small Animals: no

Other dogs: yes

Comments:   Jack is a 3 year old black and white male with blue eyes.  He and his partner Zoe have found themselves in rescue through no fault of anyone.  Jack is housebroken, good with kids and will teach you the ins and outs of scootering when you are ready to learn. Jack and Zoe will only be considering homes that will love both of them.

Zoe

Color:
  Wooly Black and White

with Brown eyes

Sex: spay

Age: 3 Years

Housetrained: yes

Kids: yes

Small Animals: no

Other dogs: yes

Comments:   Zoe is a 3 year old black and white female with brown eyes.  She is a wooly and a compact but a big lover. She is housebroken and good with other dogs (especially Jack) Her partner is Jack and she hooks up right next to him to help scooter with you.  They are both strong on a leash but if you are into power walking they are your team.  A little leash work on your part will let them know when that pulling is appropriate.  Zoe and Jack will only go to a home that is big enough (in love and care) to take them both.

Comments:

Smoke is a 2 year old gray and white male with brown expressive eyes.  He gets along well with medium to large dogs but does think little dogs would be great squeaky toys.  He's housebroken and is learning to be crate trained.  Does need another dog to keep him company while you are away. He's ready for hikes in the hills and runs along the beach.

Baker

Color:
 White with Blue eyes

Sex: spay

Age: 9 months

Housetrained: See below

Kids: yes

Small Animals & Cats: yes

Other dogs: yes

Comments:   Baker came to our rescue when she was four months old.  She is all white with blue eyes.  She has a medical issue that causes her to "leak" urine.  We decided to do a corrective surgery requiring the removal of one kidney that would hopefully stop the leaking but it did not.  So she is now 9 months old, crate trained, cat friendly and leaks.  She is affectionately known as Basket Case, as she is a very hard placement.  Baker loves people, and gets along with other dogs, but would need to be an outside dog unless you are wiling to have her wear a diaper while in the house.

Max

Color:
milk chocolate and cream with bi eyes

Sex: neutered

Age:  11 months

Housetrained: maybe

Kids: yes

Small Animals: no

Other dogs: yes

Comments:   Occasionally, we accept dogs from the shelter hours before they are scheduled to be put down. The shelter begged us to take Max, telling us what a wonderful young dog he has been during three weeks in the kennel. And they swore he was a husky mix.

Well, we have the searching diligently and have not found any sign of husky here. The bi eyes and socks are Aussie Cattle Dog and the rest appears to be terrier. Max also exhibits all those traits huskies always seem to lack: he’s attentive, responsive, affectionate, crate trained, and…obedient.

He is a solid 60lb. mass of pure muscle. Max is a sweetheart who desperately wants to be someone’s dear pet.

Perhaps it’s the bi-eyes. Somehow, someone believed this lovable fellow was a husky and we took him sight unseen. No, he is not a pit bull, Staffordshire terrier or anything close. We have consulted with experts who assure us this dog has a hint of husky, a dash of collie and a touch of shepherd. We have been attempting to train huskies and this guy rushes in and does the commands after two tries…when we are working with other dogs! He wants to please that much. He just picks it up by himself.  Very happy and energetic. Crate trained but can let himself out if he wishes.

Sadly, the huskies know Max is not one of them, so he suffers from being excluded from the pack.

Max – Shepherd/collie/Cattle dog mix. all shots, vet checked, microchipped.

Comments:   Daisy is a 1 year old gray and cream terrier mix.  She weighs about 35 pounds gets along with kids cats and other dogs. She is also housebroken and walks very nice on a leash.  Ok, she's not a Siberian but when Lake Isabella shelter calls we help.  So this girl would love to be considered for a home.  Maybe someone knows someone who would love to have a (soon to be long hair) fluffy companion?

Cora

Color:
  Red & white

Sex: spay

Age: 1 Year

Housetrained: unknown

Kids: yes - older

Small Animals: no

Other dogs: yes

Comments:   Cora is a beautiful girl who loves people and dogs, but has not had the attention and love she craves. She is active, loves to play with dogs, is eager to learn and please her humans. She would love to live with an young, active, playful boy dog or two. Huskys love to explore their world, so Cora needs lots of long runs with her human pack as well as lots of cuddle time. We suggest a mature home with teenagers for Cora.

Lily and Logan

Color:
Black and white with bi eyes

Sex: spayed and neuter

Age: 6 years

Housetrained: not yet known

Kids: yes

Small Animals: no

Other dogs: yes

Comments:   Lily and Logan are 6 year old b/w female and male with bi eyes. This is a tough pair. Seems their owners had to move, and left them in an asphalt yard in L A while they moved back to Mexico. Somehow they forgot to pack Lily and Logan. We have given them a little bit of time to get used to a different kind of surrounding and they are doing well. They do need to go together, they depend on each other. Housebroken unknown, should probably have older children that are calm around dogs.

Comments:

Hi, I am Dexter, a rescue male living in Southern California. Don't believe anyone when they say "It don't rain in Southern California" as it has been raining her for the last month. The attached pictures were just taken at the ranch where I am staying. I am staying at the ranch because my friend and lifelong caretaker passed away in January but soon I will be leaving for a more permanent home. The ranch is pretty cool, there are over 50 horses here, lots of dogs too, maybe 40 to 50 dogs pass thru here every day and then the occasional cat as well. We have the whole day to play with each other and to just goof off. The lady that owns the ranch, she feeds me, walks me and says that I am playful, respectful, can walk on a leash and show no aggression of any kind. When I was at the vets getting my shots, a physical, and a bath they said the same thing too.

No one really knows how old I am, but everyone seems to think I am somewhere around 2-4 years old, and I weigh in at 60 pounds. They also say I am house broken but I swear I have never broken into a house. I am healthy, have had all my shots and I am neutered. Yes, I am clipped down but if you want you can let my hair grow out again, just keep me groomed. I am still a puppy and like to act like a puppy, but I am willing to take direction.

As with all rescues, please consider taking me to an obedience class where we can get to know each other. I really need and want you to be the Alpha in my life.

Holly

Color:

Sex: spayed

Age:  1.5 years

Housetrained: yes

Kids: yes

Small Animals: no

Other dogs: yes

Comments:   Holly is now a mature 1 year old girl that is still playful and would need a doggie partner to wear off some energy, but she has learned how to control herself and is now doing well with kids. She's housebroken, crate trained, would be a good scootering partner and really "gets" the whole "sled dog thing". Would not be good living with little dogs or cats.

Marina

Color:
black and white with bi eyes

Sex: spayed

Age:  1 year

Comments:   A small powerhouse. This little girl runs the roost with the big boys backing off. Fiercely independent, she can jump a 4ft fence with ease and becomes the boss of all she surveys. She looks petite, but the attitude is immense. Active and feisty.  30 lbs. 1yr old female. Fixed, shots, vet checked, microchipped.

No cats. Can be bossy with other dogs.

Comments:   Meet Symeron he is a 2 year old red and white male with beautiful Amber eyes. He is a very sweet boy that will need a play partner when you are not home. Strong on a leash but is ready for any hike you have planned. Good with kids but not good with cats. We believe he is housebroken.

King and Queenie

Color:
red and white with amber eyes and black and white with bi eyes

Sex: neutered and spayed

Age: King: 10 years
Queenie: 8 years

Housetrained: yes

Kids: yes

Small Animals: no

Other dogs: yes

Comments:   Here are King and Queenie. This couple has been together since Queenie was adopted to her family in 2002. However, times being as they are, King and Queenie find themselves without a home. As is policy of Husky Camp, if you aren't wanted, or can't be kept for any reason, you come back to HC. So here is a pair that still loves to go for walks, (King wouldn't mind a run now and then either), can still give a loving family many years of enjoyment, and smiles all the way around. If you would like to help these two get out of kennel life, they would love to hear that there is an application for them in their future.

Maddy

Sex: spayed

Age: 3 years

Housetrained: yes

Kids: yes

Small Animals: yes

Other dogs: yes

Comments:   Maddy is 3 years old and wants to be a Siberian Husky so bad, if it means she can have a wonderful home. She appears to be a lab/husky mix with brown eyes and a very loving soul. Her favorite place to be is in your lap, where ever that may be. She loves hugs too. Maddy is good with kids, housebroken and good with cats. She also does fine with male or female dogs. Would probably need another dog in the home to keep her company, and would really like someone that worked from home to be with her all the time.

Comments:   Clover is a 1 year old b/w female Siberian with bi eyes. She came from the streets of L. A. without anyone attached to her by a leash. She knows that is not the life for her, and is looking for a more responsible family to provide her a loving home. It's unknown whether she is housebroken, but it won't take her long to learn. She has a quiet demeanor and gets along with other dogs.

Pono

Color:
 white with blue eyes

Sex: neutered

Age: 1 year

Housetrained: yes

Kids: yes

Small Animals: no

Other dogs: yes

Comments:   Pono is a 1 year old white male Siberian with piercing blue eyes. Many have been hypnotized by the blue eyes, but don't realize the amount of exercise an athlete such as Pono needs. Pono is much smarter than he his been given credit, and given the proper owner that can work past the smoke and mirrors of a "puppy" will gain the respect of Pono. He is housebroken but like any Siberian should not be in the house when you are not home. He would benefit from having an active family and another active Siberian female to work out the energy he has every day. Pono is good with kids but would not be good with cats.
